When we travel we gravitate toward places with intriguing culture and history, beautiful natural environments from mountains to sea with the unusual wildlife encounter. We love to snorkel, hike, kayak, bike. We tend to stay in medium-range, charming, boutique or family-run budget accommodations with the occasional splurge if we feel it will be worth it! We look for an affordable yet authentic experience with the local community. We are the kind of travelers who learn a little of the local language before we go and do our best to understand and protect the people and places we visit. We have a great respect for culture, the arts, and the environment.

The title of this blog is from the definition of “sauntering” given by Henry David Thoreau, “he who saunters is no more vagrant than the meandering river, seeking the shortest course to the sea…every walk is a crusade…” for us it is to seek sacred land – which we feel is basically – everywhere.
